Gaze is a skincare platform to help confused users discover and figure the right products for their skincare problems and goals. Understanding each products ingredients is one of the most important steps into finding the right product to achieve good skin. Furthermore, Personal care products are manufactured with 10,500 unique chemical ingredients, some of which are known or suspected carcinogens, toxic to the reproductive system or known to disrupt the endocrine system. Although some companies make products that are safe to use, others use dangerous ingredients, like coal tar and formaldehyde, both of which are human carcinogens, and lead acetate, a developmental toxin. Most people believing the government oversees the safety of their cosmetics and other personal care items. Not so. Which why individuals can do their own research about their products using Gaze.
Gaze gets their information from EWG stands for Environmental Working Group. “The Environmental Working Group’s mission is to empower people to live healthier lives in a healthier environment. With breakthrough research and education, we drive consumer choice and civic action. We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to protecting human health and the environment.” EWG is one of the few organizations that have curated and compiled data from multiples sources to create a rating for cosmetic ingredients which is why we’ve decided to use their score. The EWG score consists between 1-10 and falls in a category of low, medium, high risk. There are also some ingredients that are still in research which falls in a category of unknown. 1-2 : Low Risk 3-6: Medium Risk 7-10: High Risk Moreover, the amount of data based on each ingredients are indicated along with the data class. Data classes are divided according to: None, Limited, Fair, Good, Robust.
You have to sign up and create your profile to become one of the Gazers. You will have to answer few questions to help Gaze analyze your skin profile and goals. Once you have completed creating your profile. Gaze will recommend some products according to your skin profile, helping you minimize the choice. Through the search bar you can find the specific product or brand that you are looking for. Write reviews & leave ratings for products you have used in the past, so it helps other users to make better decision. (You could also read reviews on products that you always wanted to try and decide whether it will be worth trying or not.) There is also Qna section where you could ask questions and be answered by other users, helping you move on and choose better products.
